8.45am – 5pm (36.25 hours per week with flexitime available)
This is an ideal position for someone degree-educated in social sciences or equivalent, within a large membership organisation. The purpose of the role is to develop and lead an organisation-wide strategy to represent and promote the counselling and psychotherapy professions to commissioners and employers, to further the employment prospects of the counselling and psychotherapy workforce.
-Developing, implementing and leading an innovative strategy to position the counselling professions in the minds of commissioners and employers
-Ensuring the organisation can exploit opportunities to increase the mental health workforce for the benefit of its members and of the counselling professions
-Influencing UK policy and decision makers about the value and benefits of employing the counselling and psychotherapy workforce
-Devising and delivering a plan for engagement with commissioners and employers, taking into consideration the different sectors, contexts and commissioning environments of the counselling professions across the four nations
-Working with the Head of Membership & Operations to understand member needs and continually engaging with members to understand their concerns around employment
-Developing the organisation’s messaging and articulating the relevance and value of the counselling professions to relevant audiences
-Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with key external organisations
-Working with members in private practice with a view to bringing members together and cultivating best practice/opportunities for members working in private practice
Overall, the aims of the role are to increase the number of members in paid employment and to increase the proportion of employers accessing counselling.
-Understanding and experience of the complexities in the commissioning of counselling and psychotherapy in multiple sectors, include the private, voluntary and public sectors
-Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate to a range of audiences
-Experience of developing and implementing successful organisation-wide strategies and projects
-Experience of influencing and persuading a variety of external stakeholders
-Ability to analyse and present complex information in a clear and concise manner, demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
-Ability to establish and maintain organisational relationships with a range of external stakeholders and partners
-Effective influencing and negotiation skills when liaising with senior stakeholders
-Ability to work collaboratively across an organisation
